Over the last 15 years, Burney’s Sweets & More has gone from a single mom & pop bakery in Elizabethtown, North Carolina to a statewide franchise with over a dozen locations. They have never lost their family spirit and values, however, and the Burney’s family grows wherever they go.
Throughout the region, Burney’s has been recognized for their exceptional original baked goods, their beloved place in the communities across North Carolina, and the value they bring as a small family-owned business. This page highlights some of the honors and media recognition that mark that journey.
Small Business Award 2025
Recognition by the city of Erwin, North Carolina for being an exceptional small business, beloved by the community.
Burney’s Sweets & More was recognized by the Erwin Chamber of Commerce for their value as a business to the city On top of winning the Small Business Award for 2025, Burney’s was also the sponsor for the Erwin Leadership Award. Burney’s, along with the other winners, were recognized at an annual banquet hosted by the Chamber.
2023 Community Choice Awards
Recognized as a Finalist by the city of Fayetteville, North Carolina for being one of the top bakeries in the city.
The Fayetteville Observer honored the best in restaurants, businesses, organizations and other professionals across nearly 150 categories during the 29th annual Community's Choice Awards gala at the Crown Complex. Burney’s Sweets & More was a finalist in the Bakery category, and were honored amongst the winners.
