Pig Pickin' cake at Burney's Sweets & More
Burney's Sweets & More, a small chain with 16 locations in the state, including Fayetteville and Cameron, offers a pig pickin' cake in which layers of yellow cake are stacked with whipped topping, pineapple and pecans. The summer treat pays homage to a Southern tradition in which people gather to roast a whole hog. Be sure to call ahead, because the bakery doesn't always have pig pickin' cake on hand.
Where to get it: Burney's Sweets & More, 3319 Raeford Road, Fayetteville
Cost: $36 per cake
